Natural Heroes

First and foremost (and some claim the most heroic) of all heroes are those of the Natural origin. Natural heroes theoretically have the most mundane of abilities that anyone could come to possess, but they have been trained (or positioned) such that their natural abilities can seem superhuman! Natural heroes do not necessarily need to be "mundane" or even human: an alien from another world might have incredible strength and the ability to teleport as a natural ability, or a person from a subterranean cave system might intrinsically be able to control the heat of their magma-like skin and volcanically-induced gliding that meets the legal requirement for flight. These are still Natural powers to these people, just as much as the sharpshooting skills of a human who practices with a pistol are Natural.

Examples From Fictional Heroes

  • Batman is frequently cited as a Natural hero due to his intense physical training and wide range of mundane investigative skills that range from martial arts to drag racing to surfing to Dance Dance Revolution mastery. While some argue that his usage of gadgets and highly-engineered (likely expensive) vehicles would fall into the Tech hero camp, if you take away the tech he's still Batman.
  • Daredevil is an accomplished martial artist and defender of the innocent with combat skills that grew from a knack for boxing into mastery over a number of combat skills. His "radar sense" may have come to him from a reaction to a radioactive substance that blinded him, but the bulk of his super skills are all Natural. Hell's Kitchen is in good hands.
